3 Things We Want to Say to Plus-Size Retailers
Whoever said plus-size clothing had to be boring? Well, it might not have been said out loud, but look in the window of any store that sells clothes aimed at the larger lady and you’d be inclined to believe that style decreases proportionately as dress size increases. At LadyNightWear we know that this simply isn’t the case.
Whether you’re a size 16 or 22, you want clothes that reflect your personality; not to be restricted by what the retailers think you should be wearing. So without further ado, here are the 3 things we want to say to plus-size retailers:
1. Prints aren’t just for the petite.
Women of all shapes and sizes can wear bold prints. Don’t get us wrong, the classic black tee is a great wardrobe staple, but why do prints seem to disappear as size increases?
We love the mix of fabrics, colours and the contrasting leopard print and flowers on this Serena Plus Size Floral Top. If you need proof that larger women can rock a bold print, this is it.
2. Let some skin show!
Yes, some women like to cover-up, but many others don’t! Why shouldn’t bigger women be able to show off their assets? Cut-out and sheer panels on clothing are incredibly popular this season, but you’d never guess it if you browsed the plus-size selection in most stores.
Whether it be an exposed shoulder or plunging back, women of all sizes should be able to make the most of this hot trend. The Irma Cold Shoulder Dress is a great example of plus-size clothing that carries current trends across a range of sizes.
3. There’s more to life than black, blue and beige.
Everything we’ve said in relation to prints goes the same for colour. Women needn’t be camouflaged, so where are the oranges, yellows, purples and greens in the plus-size aisles?
Bright colours make us feel happy, put a spring in our step and radiate summer. Big girls deserve that too.
And if you still don’t believe that larger women can look fabulous in colour, print or with skin showing, take a look at this Cristina Top and Trouser Set. A loose coral top with cut-out shoulders pairs with aztec print trousers in royal blue and coral – the best summer outfit for home or abroad.
Are you unsatisfied with the range of plus-size styles on the high street and online? Is there anything you’d add to our list of complaints about clothing for bigger bodies? Let us know!
